Stacked image taken with the ST-7/46 cm reflector combination.
Stacked image taken with the ST-9E/91 cm reflector combination.

The image below is a stack of the best 40 (out of 45), unfiltered, one-minute CCD images taken by Joe Dellinger and Amelia Goldberg at the George Observatory, using the Fort Bend Astronomy Club's 18-inch (46 cm) f/4.5 reflector and my ST-7 camera. The image sequence began at 01:30 UT, 10 November 2000. The image is roughly 11x7 arcminutes on a side. North is up, East is to the left. Keith Rivich did the intial processing (dark, flat, hot/cold pixel removal, stack).

In addition, I cropped the image slighly to remove a blank boarder, then applied a "flatten background" using MaxIm DL before making a negative of the image and converting it to jpg format. The "blob" below center and to the right is flaw on my chip that did not disappear during flat fielding.

The image below is a stack of 70, R filtered, one-minute CCD images taken by Dennis Borgman and Keith Rivich at the George Observatory, using the Houston Museum of Natural Science's 36-inch (91 cm) f/7.6 reflector and Rice University's ST-9E camera. The image sequence began at 00:45 UT, 10 November 2000. The image is roughly 5 arcminutes on a side. North is up, East is to the left. Keith Rivich did the processing (dark, flat, hot/cold pixel removal, stack).
