Comments: The "asteroid from hell" as co-discoverer Russ Wicker put it. Recovery
the second night was complicated by the distraction of chasing down a comet candidate (which turned out to be some kind of internal reflection of the nebulosity near V1057 Ori -- we think!). By the time we got to the asteroid, it had almost entered the nebula. We only got one clear shot of the asteroid. Another hour and 2nd night confirmation would have been impossible.
On day 4 (post discovery), the asteroid was involved in star after star in the winter Milky Way.
Epilog: in DOU-O13 2000 we learned that XV35 had become a two-opposition object. Since no prior designation was announced, we presume the link to a 1998 siting was a "one-night" stand.
In DOU-C06 2001, we learned that XV35 had gone to three oppositions.

Comments: Found while detouring from our search area in order to do astrometry on a known asteroid in need of it. This was the first discoveries of Max Eastman, who has helped out many weekends for the past three years. Also the first discovery for Joe Dellinger, who missed out on the last two discoveries of 1999. Many thanks to Paul Comba for getting the 2nd night confirmation!

Comments: Discovered while doing follow up astrometry of our early February discovery, 2000 CB41. 2nd night confirmation provided by Larry Robinson (thanks!!). At roughly 20th magnitude, this is probably our faintest discovery ever.
