1997 SM5
1997 SN5
1997 SY17
1997 YW4
UT Discovery Date: 06:24:00 September 28 (UT), 1997
Our Initial Designation: FBAC25
Discoverers: Bill Dillon, Randy Pepper
Our Astrometry
Orbital Elements
Next Opposition: February 23, 1999 (mag 21.5)
Next Opposition Ephemeris
Current Ephemeris
Comments: Randy and I were doing an experimental deep field composite image near the ecliptic.
In blinking the first and last images, we found a faint moving object (FBAC 24). Doing the astrometry the next night, I
noticed another moving object that we'd missed in our field
blinking: FBAC 25.
Our thanks to the FBAC Supernovae Search Team for allowing me to do confirmation images on Sunday night.

Comments: While doing the astrometry on the confirmation image of FBAC25
(1997 SM5), I spotted another asteroid in the same field! Thanks again to the FBAC Supernova Search Team for telescope time in doing the confirmation!

Comments: Discovered by Cynthia and Keith, and confirmed on Christmas Eve! Sometime in the Spring of 1999, someone recovered YW4, making it our fourth multi-oppositional asteroid!
